    What is a crease dent?

    A crease dent happens when something travels sideways across the panel rather than striking it straight on. The metal folds along a line, and that fold holds the surrounding surface under tension. Crease dent removal means releasing that tension in the right order, working from the ends of the fold inward, so the panel returns to its original contour instead of oil-canning somewhere else.

    Because the fold is narrow and the surrounding paint is often untouched, car crease repair is frequently a paintless job. Depth at the sharpest point is the deciding factor, not length.

    What is a body line dent?

    Body lines, also called character lines, are the sharp stamped ridges the manufacturer pressed into the panel to control how light travels down the vehicle. A body line dent flattens, waves or breaks that ridge. Even a small one is obvious, because the eye reads the interruption in a straight reflection long before it registers the dent.

    Factory body line restoration is precision work. Paintless body line repair rebuilds the ridge to its original height and crispness, then checks it against the matching line on the opposite side of the car.

    Crease dent

    A fold that runs across otherwise open sheet metal. The metal is locked along the length of the fold, so it has to be released progressively from the ends inward.

    Body line dent

    Body-line crease

    A fold that runs along or through a body line, the most demanding of the three. The repair combines crease release and line restoration in the same pass.

    The Honest Answer

    Can PDR Fix Creases And Body Line Dents?

    Most of the time, yes. PDR crease repair works whenever the paint film is intact and the technician can get behind the metal or pull it cleanly from the surface. What changes is how long it takes: a crease is released in many small passes rather than one push, so it is a patience job rather than a strength job.

    PDR body line repair is the same principle with a higher tolerance. The line has to end up at the correct height along its whole run, which is why it is checked repeatedly under reflection and against the undamaged side of the vehicle.

    Sharp and deep crease repair is where expectations matter. Where the metal has been stretched at the base of the fold, a small trace can remain visible under direct light. You will be told that before the repair, not discovered afterwards.

    Sharp and deep creases

    A tight fold concentrates all the movement into a narrow band of metal. Those repairs are worked slowly with fine tips and repeated re-reads, lifting the base of the fold before the shoulders are blended back into the surrounding contour.

    Long crease repair

    A crease running most of a door or a truck bedside is usually shallower than it looks. Length adds time, not necessarily difficulty, because the tension is released along the run in sequence instead of in one place.

    Creases on a body line

    When the fold sits on the stamped line itself, the repair has two jobs: release the crease and rebuild the ridge. This is the most demanding paintless work on a vehicle and the reason a body line dent takes longer than a flat-panel dent of the same size.

    Door creases usually come from another vehicle's door edge, a post or a shopping trolley dragging along the panel. Doors are broad, mostly single-skinned and reachable behind the trim card, so a door crease or door body line dent is one of the more workable repairs on the vehicle.

    Aluminium has very little memory and work-hardens as it moves, so it takes more passes at lighter pressure and less tolerance for error. Aluminium hoods, doors and bedsides are common on newer trucks and premium cars, and we assess those in person rather than from a photograph alone.

      A line light or reflection board turns the crease into a readable pattern so the depth, the ends of the fold and any stretched metal show clearly before anything is touched.

      Confirm paint and metal condition

      We check for cracked clear coat, previous refinishing and stretched or torn metal. If the paint has broken over the fold, paintless repair is no longer the honest recommendation.

      Plan access

      Trim cards, liners, lights or seals come out only as far as the repair requires so tools can reach the back of the panel at the correct angle.
