How a Denver hail claim works

Your Hail Insurance Claim, Step by Step

Most Denver drivers have never filed a hail claim before, and the confusing part is never the damage, it is the sequence. Here is exactly how the process runs when you use an independent paintless dent repair shop.

    1. 01

      Free hail damage inspection

Bring the vehicle to our Denver shop or send photographs. Every horizontal panel is read under reflection lighting and impacts are counted by size band, because hail on silver, white and light metallic paint is close to invisible in flat daylight.

    2. 02

A written PDR estimate your adjuster can read

You receive a paintless dent repair estimate in the format carriers expect: panel by panel, dent counts, labour and any required refinish work. We can hand it to you or send it directly to your carrier on request.

    3. 03

      Claim filed and adjuster documentation

You file the claim with your own carrier. We supply the supporting documentation and photographs, and we speak to the adjuster about repair method when it helps the file move.

    4. 04

      Supplements when damage was missed

Catastrophe estimates written in a parking lot routinely undercount hail. If our inspection finds more eligible damage, it is submitted as a supplement with photographic support for the adjuster's consideration.

    5. 05

Repair with your factory paint kept on the car

Approved paintless hail repair reshapes the metal from behind the panel. No filler, no sanding and no respray, so the original factory finish and the vehicle's paint history stay intact.

    6. 06

      Deductible handled and vehicle returned

Your carrier pays the repair per your policy and you pay your deductible. Free pickup and return across the Denver metro and rental car assistance are available so the claim costs you as little time as possible.

    Cost, deductibles and coverage

What Hail Damage Repair Actually Costs You

Colorado is one of the most hail exposed states in the country, and comprehensive coverage exists precisely for this. What you pay comes down to your deductible, not to the size of the repair.

Insurance claim assistance for hail damage paintless dent repair in Denver

Your repair can be $0 out of pocket

Colorado comprehensive policies commonly cover hail damage, and many policies carry a low or waived deductible for glass and comprehensive claims. When your deductible is met by the claim structure, the paintless repair can cost you nothing out of pocket. Your policy decides, not us.

Paintless repair usually costs the carrier less

PDR removes hail without filler, primer, paint or blending into adjacent panels. That normally makes it the cheaper approved path than a conventional refinish on the same vehicle, which is one reason adjusters approve it routinely on Front Range hail claims.

A hail claim is not an at-fault accident

Hail is a comprehensive weather loss, not a collision you caused. Rating rules vary by carrier, so ask your agent how a comprehensive claim is treated on your policy before you decide whether to file.

    Unrepaired hail costs more later

Hail damage is visible at trade-in and appraisal, and a declined claim does not go away. Repairing with PDR preserves the factory paint that a buyer, dealer or appraiser will inspect.

All carrier names are the property of their respective owners. Colorado Dent Solutions is an independent repair facility and is not affiliated with, certified by or endorsed by any insurance carrier. Coverage, deductibles and claim decisions are determined by your policy and your carrier.

    Why an independent shop

Denver Hail Claim Help From a Shop That Answers to You

    Independent, and honest about it

We are not in any carrier's preferred network and we do not take direction from an insurer on how your vehicle should be repaired. We also tell you plainly when hail damage is not a good paintless candidate.

Your right to choose the shop

In Colorado the vehicle owner chooses the repair facility. A carrier can recommend a shop, and a recommendation is not a requirement. Choosing an independent PDR shop does not void your claim.

    Documentation that survives review

Photographs, panel maps and dent counts, not adjectives. When a supplement is requested it is supported by evidence an adjuster can verify without a second inspection.

One shop, one owner, one standard

Colorado Dent Solutions is owned and run by Alec Todd out of our north Denver shop. The person who reads your panels is the person who repairs them, and the person you call back afterwards.

    Hail claim questions

Denver Hail Insurance Claim Questions, Answered

Straight answers about coverage, deductibles, shop choice and supplements. Your policy and your carrier make the final call on every claim decision.

Comprehensive coverage is what pays for hail damage in Colorado, and most full-coverage auto policies include it. Liability-only policies do not cover hail on your own vehicle. If you are not sure what you carry, your declarations page will list comprehensive coverage and the deductible attached to it, or your agent can confirm it in a two minute phone call.

Photograph the vehicle, note the date of the storm, then call your carrier or open the claim in their app. You will be given a claim number and either a virtual estimate or an inspection appointment. Get an independent inspection as well, because your own documented paintless dent repair estimate is what protects you if the first estimate undercounts the damage.

That depends on your policy. Comprehensive claims are subject to whatever comprehensive deductible you selected, and some Colorado policies carry low or waived deductibles that leave the customer paying nothing out of pocket. We will tell you what the repair is worth; only your carrier can confirm your deductible.

Yes. In Colorado the vehicle owner chooses the repair facility, not the insurer. Your carrier may recommend a network shop and you are free to decline that recommendation. Using an independent paintless dent repair shop does not void your claim or your coverage.

A hail claim is a comprehensive weather loss rather than an at-fault accident, which is why many carriers treat it differently to a collision. Rating practices still vary between carriers and policies, so ask your agent directly how a comprehensive claim affects your renewal before filing.

A supplement is an additional request for payment submitted when the original estimate did not capture all of the damage or all of the work required. On hail claims this is extremely common, because catastrophe estimates are often written quickly in outdoor lighting. We document the additional eligible damage with photographs and submit it for your adjuster's consideration.

Policies require prompt notice, and carriers are far more comfortable with claims reported within days or weeks of a known storm date. The longer you wait, the harder it is to tie the damage to a specific event, and some carriers will question a claim filed a year later. If a storm hit your area, get the vehicle inspected now even if you have not decided whether to file.

It is the standard approved repair method for hail on undamaged paint. Insurers understand PDR, have their own labour matrices for it, and frequently prefer it because it keeps the factory finish and avoids refinishing costs. Hail that has cracked the paint or stretched the metal moves into conventional repair, and we say so when that is the case.

Do not authorise a repair against an estimate you believe is short. Get an independent inspection, put the difference in writing with photographs and dent counts, and submit it as a supplement. Most low hail estimates are undercounts of small dents on light coloured panels, not disputes about labour rates.

We handle the repair documentation: the written estimate, photographs, panel maps, supplement requests and adjuster conversations about method. The claim itself remains between you and your carrier, because they are your policy and your legal relationship, not ours.

Yes. Plenty of Denver drivers pay for light hail repair directly, especially when the damage is limited to one or two panels or when the repair total is close to the deductible. We will quote it both ways so you can compare before deciding whether to open a claim.

Yes. We provide documented paintless dent repair estimates and supplement support for policyholders of every major carrier writing in Colorado, including State Farm, Allstate, GEICO, Progressive, USAA, Farmers, American Family, Travelers, Liberty Mutual and Nationwide. Colorado Dent Solutions is independent and is not affiliated with, certified by or endorsed by any of them.
