If your vehicle was caught in a Colorado hailstorm and you are insured through Allstate, the mechanics of the process are much like any comprehensive claim. What varies is timing after big storms and how thoroughly the damage gets documented at the start.

Colorado Dent Solutions is an independent shop and has no affiliation with, or endorsement from, Allstate.

    Understand your comprehensive coverage first

Hail sits under comprehensive on most policies. Check that it is in force and note your deductible. If comprehensive is not on the policy, hail damage to your own vehicle generally is not covered, which is worth confirming before you make any calls.

    Build your own damage record

Take photographs in daylight at a low angle across each panel, including the roof. Note the date of the storm and where the vehicle was parked. Photograph any cracked glass, damaged lamps or split trim separately, since those are handled as their own items rather than as dent work.

    What an inspection looks for

Whether it is an in-person inspection or a photo-based process, the goal is the same: identify affected panels, estimate dent counts, and band the dents by size. That grid produces the labour estimate.

Light hail is easy to under-count, which is why panels are read again under a light board once the vehicle is in the shop.

    Choosing paintless repair

Where paint is intact, paintless dent repair is the standard method for hail. It keeps the factory finish, avoids colour matching and blending, and generally returns the vehicle faster than refinishing. Panels with cracked paint or torn metal are the exception and need conventional work.

Our hail damage repair page explains how we assess and sequence a hail vehicle.

    Scope changes and who decides

If the shop finds more damage than the estimate lists, that goes back to the carrier as a supplement. We document it clearly. Approving it is Allstate's decision, not ours, and we will not imply otherwise.

Similarly, we cannot promise a specific out-of-pocket amount. What a driver ends up paying depends on the repair, the policy, the deductible, any applicable assistance terms and the insurer's decisions.

    Practical next steps

Get the damage assessed, confirm your deductible, then decide about filing with both numbers in hand. Our Allstate hail claim page covers the Denver metro process, and the assessment form is the quickest way to find out what your panels actually need.

    Frequently asked questions

The carrier writes and approves the estimate, but you choose the repair facility and the shop determines the correct repair method for each panel.

Have the panels read properly under a light board. If the documented damage exceeds the estimate, it is submitted as a supplement for the carrier to review.

Usually your deductible, where one applies. Any other outcome depends on your policy, the repair and applicable terms, and cannot be guaranteed in advance.

We are independent, with no carrier affiliation, certification or endorsement. We work with the claim process on behalf of our customers.
