If your vehicle regularly sits in an open lot, the practical consequence is repeat exposure over multiple seasons rather than one dramatic event. Light damage layers up. That is worth knowing when you consider whether to repair now or wait, because dent counts from separate storms are not easy to separate later.
Deciding about a claim
Hail is normally handled under comprehensive coverage. Find your deductible, get an assessment of what the damage actually is, then compare the two. Moderate to heavy damage usually justifies a claim. Light damage on a high deductible often does not, and direct-pay paintless repair on one or two panels can be more affordable than people expect.
